D-school free Design Thinking programme

University of Cape Town staff are invited to apply for the d-school’s online Introduction to Design Thinking programme. It is ideal for anyone interested in exploring creative ways of problem solving in a collaborative environment.

This programme runs on different days between 9 and 13 November 2020. Exact dates, times and technical requirements are listed on the programme application form.

What to expect?
Exposure to the design thinking process.
Develop empathy for users.
Learn to work in multidisciplinary teams.
Learn to develop low-fidelity prototypes.

2020 FREE Xhosa Online Communication Skills Courses for Staff

Register for Masithethe isiXhosa Course for staff offered by the Multilingualism Education Project (MEP) based in the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHED). The course will take place from August-November 2020. It is a 12 session course offered during lunch time or any other time suitable for you. The course covers basic conversation e.g. personal introductions, making friendships, interacting with the community, giving information and making simple requests. The course will also provide you with basic knowledge of the African culture, Xhosa culture in particular. A university certificate of completion of the course will be awarded at the end of the course. Changes to ICAS on-site booking system

UCT's Employee Wellness Programme with the Independent Counselling and Advisory Services (ICAS) has expanded into a bigger programme that now includes counselling, legal, financial and family care services. For any support or advice, please contact the toll free line that is available 24 hours a day. The options for counselling services are: telephonically, face to face at a counsellor’s office or on-site at work.

Please note: to access on-site counselling, all bookings need to be made via the toll-free line: 080 111 3945.

This is a confidential programme that is also available to the family members of UCT staff.
