1. How do I calculate my cost of employment?

Use the cost of employment calculator on the HR site.

2. Pay and banking details

My pay isn't in my bank account on payday. Why has this occurred, and who should I contact about it?

Check with your departmental administrator to see when the form was submitted to HR Administration for processing. If it was after the 3rd of the month, the payment may not have made the payrun and you will probably be paid after payday. If this is not the case, then contact the HR Administrator responsible for your department.

3. How do I change my bank details?

Bank details can be amended by completing the banking section of the Personal Details form (HR101) from the UCT Administrative forms website. Once this has been done, submit the form to the HR Administrator responsible for your department. Changes must be received by the 3rd of each month in order for them to be timeously implemented.

4. Staff Card

I have lost my staff card. How do I obtain a new one?

Staff cards may be obtained from the Access Control Office in the new Properties and Services Building, directly above the Traffic Office on Upper Campus. More information is available on the HR website.

5. Benefits

I have a query about my medical aid. Do I contact Discovery Health or HR at UCT?

Contact the Healthcare Specialist responsible for medical aid at UCT.

I wish to resign, who do I submit my letter of resignation to?

Your letter of resignation should be submitted to your line manager. Please send a copy to the Retirement Officer for processing.

Please submit your frequently asked questions (and their answers if you have them) to the webmanager for inclusion on this page.
